What is this?

A fanwork challenge in honor of our favorite genius billionaire playboy philanthropist, Tony Stark! 

Is there an age requirement?

13+ only – younger fans are not legally allowed to have Tumblr or A03 accounts. All underage fans (17 or below), however, may not request adult/sexual content prompts, and will be disincluded from adult channels on the discord. Underage users will be marked on their discord handles, and are informed that swearing and near-adult conversation may occur in non-adult channels. Keep in mind your own comfort levels.

Once you have your card, you can make as many fills as you want. This is a LOW ENTRY activity. If all you do is one fill, that’s great! We’re sharing the love! You can share your card right away, or save it until the end.

TSB Mods

 Who are the Mods?

Overmod Tisfan- handles collecting of signup sheets, making of card lists, questions and comments directed to the TonyStarkbingo@gmail.com email. Party coordinator and delegator of mod assignments.

Discord Mod - Nix - handles discord announcements and moderates bots, moderates conversations in appropriate channels, keeps Tisfan from being a complete flake. Other duties as assigned.

Tumblr Mods - rebelmeg and ceealaina - tracks posts and fills, reblogs fills, coordinates the spreadsheets, coordinates the weekly roundups, tracks badge awards and masterlists, answers questions directed to the tumblr mods (assuming Tisfan doesn’t get there first.) Other duties as assigned. Including keeping mod Tisfan from going insane.

Art Mod - monobuu - draws and colors badges, arranges bingo cards and flash cards, manipulates images for headers and announcements, has not yet thrown Tisfan off the balcony.

Pillowfort Mod - fluffypanda - reblogs any posts put to Pillowfort, reblogs weekly round up to pillowfort, keeps track of suggestions to pillowfort and answers emails and questions there. Provides fluffy pictures when mod Tisfan is in a mood.

Dreamwidth Mod - Alistares - reblogs any posts on Dreamwidth, answers emails, reposts the weekly roundup. Calls mod Tisfan out on her bullshit.

Mod Responsibilities

Mods will help you with questions about the event, trouble posting, missing reblogs, badge issues, etc.

Mods will look into issues of bullying or discrimination issues from other participants. If the complaint has merit, mods will discuss it IN A GROUP and come to a consensus. The mods reserve the right to not act on a complaint or decide that a complaint does not have merit.

Reprimands will take place in private and the complainant is not entitled to know the outcome of that discussion. If participants have an issue with a specific mod, please bring it to Tisfan’s attention. If participants have an issue with Tisfan, please bring it to Rebelmeg’s attention.

Mods will not resolve personal issues between participants. Not everyone gets along and that is fine. Repeat disagreements between participants will be asked to ignore/mute the other and not interact.

Disclaimer: Mods also may act as individual participants: making posts, having discussions, and giving advice as friends or mentors of other participants. These roles should be differentiated between Moderator Action and general conversation. The Mods do not have Official Opinions on other events, other discords, other bingos, or blogs, but may have personal experience and opinions. 

Signing-up & Getting Your Card

 

How do I sign up?

There will be a link to a sign-up form on the blog. [link]

You will need to provide an email address where we can contact you, a participant name, your age, and the names for the platforms/blogs where you plan to post. 

Each card will come with a card number. You must use your card number on ALL posts for them to count toward badges and reblogs.

If I participated in previous rounds, do I have to fill out the form again?

Yes, yes you do. That way, we know who still wants to participate.

Some items on the form have changed again. NSFW content is now Opt-In, instead of Opt-Out. Your DNWs, tropes and preferences might have changed. Your email or preferred platform might have changed.

Can I sign up with a co-writer or artist collaborator?

YES

We’re opening cards for multiple collaborators this round; you and your partner can sign up and get a single card. 

Caveat; your fill must be twice the length of a regular fill, so 600 words, etc. And you must both participate equally on all fills. This is not an excuse to divide up the card. You will get badges issued with both names and both creators must be credited with the work when posted.

I missed the sign up period, can I still join?

Yes, but the card won’t be customized. Email the tonystarkbingo@gmail.com and request a SFW or NSFW card. Please include your A03 pseud or user name and any MAJOR Triggers so we don’t include those, but no other changes can be requested.

How will I receive my card?

Cards will be sent a variety of ways to prevent the email throttling. There will be options on the form to choose from: Emailed card, Tumblr Message, or Pick Up on Discord.

Can I change my card if I don’t like the squares?

Yes. After you receive your card, you will have 10 days to send in requests. Given the large number of participants we’ve had and the time it takes to do changes, we’re limiting replacements to no more than 2 sets of requests.

TSB Standards of Behavior

 These rules apply to public discord channels and any posts about or that tag the Tony Stark Bingo’s blogs and social media. Please keep in mind there is a difference between not liking a thing and calling someone out who does like a thing.  

• No ship bashing or kink shaming. 
• No trash talking about other writers or artists or their content.
• No character bashing outside of created content limits. 
• Keep adult conversation on the NSFW channel and all other conversations with potentially upsetting material to their appropriate channels. Other channels can be added if participants request it. 

These are warning level infractions: you will be given the opportunity to remove offensive content, take it to a private channel or DMs, etc. 

Please be accommodating of other participants requests to take things to a private channel, tone it down, or “tag me when this discussion is over.” Excusing yourself from a conversation that makes you uncomfortable is a preferred method of dealing with squicks or personal triggers.

Racism, homophobia, gender identity bashing, anti semitism, sexism, hate speech, or other discriminatory behavior is not condoned by the Tony Stark Bingo. 

Continued occurrences of this behavior will result in being temporarily muted, offensive material removed by mods, and may result in being removed from the bingo.

ZERO bullying or threatening behavior will be tolerated, including anon-hate, suicide encouragement, or inciting a witchhunt.

This behavior is cause for being removed from the bingo IMMEDIATELY without recourse.

Fanworks Requirements and Badge Information

 What counts as a fill?

• Fanfiction or poetry: 300+ words for fic, 75+ words for free-form poetry, one limerick or one haiku according to those poetry form rules, or exactly 100 words as a “drabble” fill
• 300+ words of headcannon / essay / what ifs… / imagine your OTP / fandom meta (new for this round)
• Fanart: 1 image, 3 in x 3 in if in traditional media, 300 px x 300 px if digital
• Graphics: 2 images, this includes moodboards
• Gifsets: 4 images
• Playlists: Album Art + 6 Songs
• Fanvids: 30 seconds
• Podfic: 10 minutes
• Rec Lists: 5 fics with recommendations / reviews 
• Fanmade Craft: one thing (doll, lego construction, cross stitch, embroidery, whatever. Please photograph in good light so we can all admire how cool you are!)
• Other fanworks as requested, please inquire!

What counts towards a badge?

• One fill - YAY! Go you! You are successfully a star!
• Five fills in a row, diagonal, column or four corners and the center - YAY! GO YOU!
• Blackout your card with a fill for every square - YAY! Go YOU! (and we’re very impressed)
• Five or more fills, but no bingo (only claimable at the end of the round) - Yay! Gold star for effort!

 

More About Your Fill

 Do we have to write about Tony Stark?

Tony does not have to be your main character. He does not need to be mentioned in the fill. Any character that has been featured in media with Tony Stark (comic, cartoons, video games, or movies) can be considered. 

What do I do with that space in the middle?

It’s a free space, make anything you want as long as it meets the minimum requirements.

Can we make a Chaptered Story, or continue a fill after the close of the bingo?

YES

If you write a story about mermaids for one square, you may then continue the same story in your next square about mating rituals. If you end up with 25 fills all in the same AU, and cover each square in one chapter, that’s allowed. And, we have to say, pretty impressive!

Can we continue or Work in an AU we’ve already written?

Short Answer: Use your best judgement

This is a little trickier, because a bingo is supposed to be an easy entry event, for both writers and readers; that said, IF your Bingo Work mostly stands alone (Steve and Tony getting engaged for the Square “Put a Ring on It” when this particular Steve and Tony have been in your “Flamingo AU” for a while, that’s fine. It’s good to give readers little glimpses from longer works to tempt them into reading.

The entry needs to stand alone – a new reader should be able to understand what’s going on without wondering why Natasha is suddenly Tony’s twin sister…

Can we combine Multiple Prompts into a single Fill?

No

If you have (S1) Cave, (S2) Ho Yinsen, and (S3) HumDrumVee, you cannot do one 300 word fill about a nightmare where Tony’s in the cave, dreaming about the attack and Yinsen wakes him up. That is called a grabbag challenge and is not the purpose of this event.

But you can create a chaptered work, in which chapter one fills S3, chapter two fills S2, and chapter three fills S3.  Each chapter will have to meet the minimum word count. 

Can we Collaborate on fills?

YES

If you and another bingo participant want to co-write a square, you may if: You write/draw double the amount for a single fill (so you are still meeting the obligations of the fill for your card.) You can each use one fill on your cards. (For example, Mary Jane has “Coffee Shop” on her card and Gwen Stacy has “first date” on her card) MJ and Gwen can write about a first date at the coffee shop, and the fill must be 600 words or more to count for both participants. You may also collaborate if the other writer/artist is NOT involved in our bingo at all or doesn’t have a square specific to the fill, with the same requirements of doubled length.

Likewise, if two artists want to collaborate, they can do that; one does the penciling, and one inks, or one does the characters and one does the background. Likewise, the drawing has to be 600 x 600 pixels or 6x6 inches to count as the double fill. 

Or one artist/one writer wants to do a 300 word fic and a little drawing that goes with it. 

All of these things are perfectly fine and allowed.

Can we use our fill in more than one Bingo/event?

YES

If you have “BDSM: Bondage” in your @mcukinkbingo card and “KINK: Held Down” on your Tony Stark Bingo card, and you want to just write one story and cross-post, that’s also allowed, provided it’s okay with the mods in charge of the other event. (I already know Kink Bingo is okay with it, which is why I used them as a specific example. Other mods may have other rules. Some events, especially bangs or exchanges, may want entirely unique material for their events.) Again with the same restrictions: the story must be the length of both minimum requirements combined (if one bingo’s minimum is 250 words and the other is 500, it has to be 750 words.)

Can I write real people fiction?

No Real People Fic. We’re celebrating the characters Tony Stark and other Iron Family, not RDJ or Chris Evans or Tom Holland, etc.

Chances are good, you can find what you’re looking for on one of these sites. Please consider using the sites.

If not, the mods will take questions on the FAQ channel in Discord, or via Tumblr asks.

Literally, we do not care. We’re not the fic police, and will not be checking your work. If you think it counts, it counts. 

My fill says Park. Does this mean parking the car, or hanging out in a park or–

YES. The fill is up for you to interpret it however you want. The mods are not going to police your fills for our interpretation of the fill. Go wild, do what you want! Anarchy in the A03!

What Are badges?
 

Icons that show you participated in this challenge! Basically a reward!

What kind of badges are there?

Participation - You made one fill of any sort for any square on your card. YAY!

Bingo - Five fills, across, down, diagonal, or four corners and the center 

Blackout - the entire card

Dum-E - any five or more fills that do NOT equal a bingo. Only available at the end of the round. If you want to “collect the set” then you must get a blackout card, request a second card, and make five or more fills on that card to get the Dum-E badge.**

How do I get a badge?

You let us know you’ve earned one by going through badge claims!

That’s right, we will be having and enforcing badge claims: you must go to the Badge Claim Form. We’ll provide a link on tumblr, Pillowfort, and Dreamwidth.

If you do not go through claims, you will not get a badge.

Discord Parties

 What is a Discord Party?

A social gathering in a particular party channel on our discord; over the weekend, the mods present games, run sprints, issue prizes, and general fun is had by all. They run about 47 hours, spanning the entire globe time zone for Saturday.

There are special party favors given out to participants who drop into the Discord during the party. You must request the Party-People role in order to get your party favor.

There are also prizes given out at some events; including Bingo tokens for Swapping Squares, Free Fills, or Mod Fills. More details about party prizes are given out at the parties.

Do I have to attend?

Nope. It’s absolutely voluntary, just fun. It’s a chance to hang out with your fellow participants and discuss ideas or play games. A lot of content is produced during these parties, due to the supportive and encouraging nature of the event. So if you need extra motivation, these parties are a great chance to find it.

Flash Bingo

 

What’s a Flash Bingo?

A flash bingo is a short series of five prompts that make up a single bingo row. We will have seven different rows choices available. To participate, come to the blog on July 25th and grab one. There are NO signups for the Flash Bingo.

August’s Flash cards will contain: A food/drink item associated with Tony Stark, an antagonist, a quote, something Tony does, and a trope or AU. 

FLOATING FREE SPACE you may use an Adopted Prompt (claimed at previous parties but not filled, OR selected from the June Party List*) to replace any ONE square on your Flash Bingo Card. Simply make a note when you make your post that this is an adopted prompt.

You can fill as many cards as you want in 30 days – we do ask that you complete all five fills on your Flash before grabbing another one! 

Each fill must be 

• 200+ word fic or poem (75+ words for free form poetry or one haiku or one limerick according to those rules) or exactly 100 word “drabble”
• 3 images for a gif.set 
• moodboard and short description
• 1 craft item and short description
• one small art or sketch. 
• We are now accepting 200 word Headcanon / Meta / Essay fills. 
• Other fill types may also be accepted, please ask a Mod for more details.*** 

You may post these to our A03 Flash Collection starting August 1st. After August 30th, all August Flash Cards will be discarded.

September’s Flash Cards will be available starting August 25th and posting begins September 1st.

September’s Flash card contains: an item, a friend, a writing format prompt, a sense, and one of Tony’s characteristics.
